Erica Denise is a Louisville-based vocalist, actress, speaker, director and producer whose work is rooted in storytelling, authenticity and connection.
Whether interpreting a song, inhabiting a character, guiding a production or speaking life into a room, Erica brings a commanding presence and emotional honesty that audiences can feel.
As an actress, Erica has portrayed Effie White in Dreamgirls, the Lady in Orange in For Colored Girls, Church Lady Darlene in The Color Purple and street urchin Crystal in Little Shop of Horrors. Her theatrical range also includes portraying Moma, Topsy, LaLa and Aunt Ethel in The Colored Museum. She is also the creator and performer of Journal Entries, her original one-woman show.
As a vocalist, Erica delivers soulful performances marked by warmth, power and a genuine connection with her audience. Her appearances include performing the national anthem at Churchill Downs, along with concerts, galas, worship experiences and special events throughout the region.
Erica’s artistry extends beyond the spotlight. As the owner of Erica Denise Entertainment, she has directed and produced numerous theatrical productions, including Beauty and the Beast, Once on This Island, The Wiz, The Lion King Jr., Aladdin Jr., Black Nativity and more. Her experience on both sides of the stage has shaped her into an artist who understands how to embody a creative vision and how to bring one fully to life.
As a speaker, Erica draws from her faith, personal experiences and creative journey to encourage others to embrace their voices, persevere through adversity and pursue their purpose.
